I have to say aioli is a new thing to me and I was excited to try it out. Red Gold is trying to introduce the world to new spreads using tomatoes for sandwiches, dips, toppings and other recipes.
I was excited to get this in the mail:
The pack contained five cans (diced with Garlic/Olive Oil, Lime & Cilantro, Green Chilies and petite diced), a Red Gold apron, a tomato spreader and a recipe guide. The recipe guide has recipes using Red Gold Aioli in Best Year Round BLT, Flatbread Veggie Pizza, Fish Tacos and more.
I chose to try the Best Year Round BLT for lunch.
BEST YEAR ROUND BLT with TOMATO AIOLI
MAKES 4 SERVINGS PREPARATION TIME: 20 MINUTES
1⁄2 cup light mayonnaise
1 (14.5 ounce) can RED GOLD® PETITE DICED TOMATOES 8 slices bread, variety of choice
4 large lettuce leaves
12 slices bacon, cooked and drained
Ground black pepper to taste
Combine mayonnaise and RED GOLD® PETITE DICED TOMATOES to make the Tomato Aioli.
Place lettuce on 4 slices of bread and then add three strips of bacon and top with Tomato Aioli and black pepper. Place slice of bread on top. Cut in half and serve.
I only made 1 sandwich because I was just making it for me. I changed the recipe up by using the Red Gold Tomatoes with garlic and olive oil for more flavor. I also used Miracle Whip instead of light mayonnaise because it was all I had.
It was very easy and quick to make. It changed my plain sandwich into a very tasty lunch. I will be making this to eat again soon.
Also growing up my Dad would always mix mayonnaise with ketchup and dip his French fries in it. This was something I would do as well so I will be trying to mix the mayonnaise with the Red Gold Tomatoes to see if I get a similar (maybe better) dip.
